I was once a massive Twilight fan. Back in November of last year I bought the first book and found myself amazed. I fell in love with it and finished in about a week. And I read the next three books just as fast or even faster.
I thought it was the most amazing storyline, bringing me a new vampire plot which I had been lacking since I finished Buffy for the first time a few years earlier. I adored Edward and Bella's dynamic with how it reminded me of many things I have in my own relationship, as well as many things that just made me think Edward was amazing. I was a Team Edward-er.
Yup, I was one of those fans.
Later into finishing the series, I started reading other people's comments of the Twilight series online. Primarily, I read opinions of other Buffy fans on particular forums. Of course I wasn't surprised to find anti-Twilight people. I decided to check out why these people disliked what I considered to be extraordinarily amazing.
The comments were mostly based around the bad writing of Stephenie Meyer, which I to this day still do not agree with, and the ridiculous vampire mythology that Twilight had. You see, Meyer went rather outside of the box when it came to the vampire lore used in Twilight, portraying the vampires in mostly a good light instead of deadly. The most ludicrous of it all was the fact that the vampires did not burn in the sun, but instead sparkled. I did not agree with what these anti-Twilighters were saying at the time. I considered the sparkling in the sun to be simply a different idea to what most vampire mythologies used.
Soon after all this I saw the movie. I was so excited to see my favourite novel made into a feature film. I organised the day with all of my closest friend to see it as early as possible. We saw at one of the best cinemas for the biggest screen. I loved the movie and my only complaint was the pacing which I found to be too fast. Although, it was understandable for a two hour movie which was trying to reflect a rather thick book.
Then the TwiHard in me died down into TwiLite (was not an intentional pun, but whatever) with no new Twilight to stimulate me.
We fast forward to now, about 10 months later. (only because the exact details of the rest of the story are shaky with the dates)
My opinion is a bit up and down. I haven't re-read the books at all, so I haven't read them since last year.
I bought the DVD of Twilight (deluxe edition, of course) and could barely manage to finish the movie. Why? It bored me to death. That was early in the year and I have still not finished watching all the special features on the DVD. I also watched the movie at a friends house with all of my friends, and spent the whole time commenting on what I found to be stupid in the movie. For example, how Bella sounded like a man whenever she was angry or how melodramatic some of the scenes were. And by now in the present, my opinion on the movie is that it is absolutely terrible.
However, throughout the year I managed to buy two massive Twilight posters, about five Twilight/Vampire themed shirts, a Twilight bookmark, the Twilight Companion book and the Twilight Directors Notebook. But I have yet the read the Twilight Companion at all still.
Quite recently, while looking at some photos of Robert Pattinson I realised that he is absolutely hideous in his vampire makeup. This went against my previous TwiHard opinion upon seeing the movie. I also thought that Taylor Lautner had an overhanging forehead.
Although these points may seem rather random, it shows my backwards and forwards opinion of Twilight. I now find anti-Twilight jokes hilarious and totally agreeable and find myself uninterested during my friends Twilight rants and conversations. These are usually "Robert Pattinson is sooo hot" or "OMG TEAM JACOB" or "New Moon is coming out soon omg omg omg omg omg". Which reminds me to mention that not once watching any of the New Moon trailers was I particularly excited or amazed or found myself squeeling "OMG NEW MOON HELL YES" like any of my friends.
In fact, whenever I overhear someone bad-mouthing Twilight around me or on the other side of the room or something I find myself agreeing usually.
So what do I think of Twilight overall? I think the books are great, possibly amazing. I can't offer a proper opinion since I have not read them in my TwiLite state yet. And even though the books are good, they are not as good as other vampire based universes such as those created in Buffy/Angel, the new show Vampire Diaries and True Blood, which I haven't even seen more than one episode of yet but I still found it better.
But my opinion on the movie is pretty solid. It was horribly done and I doubt I will enjoy it very much in the future. Catherine Hardwicke, despite her claims that she is a devoted Twilight fan in her Directors Notebook, had no idea what Twilight book fans wanted and went against them. It didn't reflect the book in the right respects at all and I'm glad she will not be continuing the movie series.
I will watch New Moon, and will probably be excited for it's release when it comes near. It may very well be better than Twilight and may reflect the book a lot better, but I doubt it. It may fair better than Twilight, but it will not fill my expectations I am sure. But if it does, my faith in the series may be completely restored.
In summary, my devotion for Twilight is not dead, but instead more weak than my devotion for other vampire related media.

I totally forgot to blog my Dollhouse review - acckkk. Sorry. So I'll do it now.
Dollhouse review: 1x09 Spy in the House of Love
Watch online: http://www.megavideo.com/?v=WSKNJOG0

I wasn't expecting this episode to be as awesome as it was. It's definitely right up there with Man on the Street when it comes to moving the plot forward and being dramatic.
I liked the setting out of the episode. At first I thought it was another "here's something dramatic and shocking now let's go back x hours and see how it happened" style episode. And I'm sorta sick of seeing them. But it didn't end up that way. This episode showed each individual imprint of Sierra, Echo, Victor and November separately. And each one had different shocks attached to it. I loved Echo's and November's was just heartbreaking. I won't ruin it for youse.
But the main plot of the episode was discovering who the spy in the Dollhouse is. Thankfully, they didn't use the obvious guesses as the spy but instead used the obvious guesses to trick us. And I sure as hell didn't see the spy reveal coming. It was good.
Echo's development shocked me, where she told Topher what he does with people in his chair and then asks him to do it to her. "Make me different."
Too bad there isn't another episode for two weeks.

I just finished spending the Easter weekend fiddling with iTunes, as explained in my last entry. Well I'm basically all finished, just some small tweaking left to do. Which is good for once for me to have something done by when I said I would.
Anyways, this means I can move on to my other holiday plans. This means Morality primarily. Yay for youse, ey? I promise you I will be working on it.
I think I'm about done.

Heroes review: Turn and Face the Stranger (3x22)
Just watched the newest Heroes episode, although later than usual. It was out online on Tuesday and I haven't watched it until now due to other distractions. It was a good episode, but not the usual dramatic seat-clinging action (although it hasn't been that good in a while anyways.)
It was good to see Parkman get some revenge on losing Daphne. After losing her, he's ready to die and almost gets shot. But, Hiro comes to the rescue just in time to save Parkman and introduce him to his son, named after himself. So Matt and Matt enjoy some father-son bonding time.
Totally LOVED to see Danko and Sylar to screw up Noah's life. Now he has lost the small amount of trust left from his wife and also his job, which was the cause for the issues with his wife in the first place. It would be really sad if I actually gave a shit about the boring bastard.
90210 review: Off the Rails (1x18)
I also watched the newest 90210, which focused primarily on Silver and her breakdown or whatever. I guessed her problem really early on in the episode, and actually shouted "Yesss!" when they mentioned that she has been diagnosed with bi-polar.
Annie finally realised that Ethan don't love her no more after whining and lying for half the episode about it. Then Ethan pointed out that no matter how much she whined, he still don't love her no more and she got over it. I would have prefered it if Annie had a brain anyerism of shock over it and died right there.

So, I received my iPod on Wednesday night. I tried to make that sentence sound as calm as possible. What I really wanted to write was, "OMG I GOT MY IPOD ON WEDNESDAY AND ITS SOOOOOOOO GOOD." I most definetly am not disapointed.
My new iPod does mean it is time for me to clean up my iTunes on the family computer. Spending about 5 hours on it last night, I barely made any progress on it. I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the easter weekend. May I explain that my cleaning up consists of the following:
Basically deleting the current iTunes Library, re-entering all my music again from the locations with the most music in them, deleting any songs that aren't mine that ended up in the entering, checking my list for any songs that aren't in the Library, then tracking them down on my comp and entering them, renaming all artists, song titles, albums etc. on ALL songs, using album importer program to import the album art to every song, transferring every song to my iPod and waiting for it to complete, and finally, checking the overall music on my iPod for any missing songs.
Seem hard or what? That's my weekend.
On another topic of projects, I will be starting Morality these holidays. Once my iTunes work is done I will switch my focus to Morality. I guarantee you that.
I'm also currently working on getting all of the Adobe Creative Suite. If you're wondering what's on that, it's basically every good Adobe program in one. Photoshop, Flash, etc. I need a massive disc, probably DVD-R that is about 8 GB in size to download the Creative Suite to. I can't even fit these programs onto my computer.
But what does this have to do with Morality? Well, one of the programs, I've forgotten the name of it exactly, is used for video editing. Video editing being the ability to make the flashy YouTube videos you see of fan-made promos and theme songs etc. I will be using that software to... wait for it... make a Morality opening theme, hopefully. Not promising it though.
I think I'm about done there. Hopefully the next time I blog I'll have an organized iTunes and some Morality written for you.

Beware - spoilers ahead.
I loved how this episode was set up. We are lead to believe that there was a glitch which caused the Actives Echo, Sierra, Victor, November and some random one called Mike to "wake up". So the five of them awake terrified because, hey, they woke up in a little box in the ground. Who wouldn't freak out?
This episode was about showing the needs of the Active's, whether it was before they became dolls or in recent times. Because as it turns out, these needs are causing problems with the Active's.
I have to say it though, but I absolutely love Victor and Sierra together. Victor may have found closure, but I haven't.
November didn't interest me very much, she didn't do much and her 'need' wasn't that amazing either. Echo bored me with her heroicism (is that a word) but I loved her forcing Topher into his own chair.
But overall, the episode really provided this different view on the dollhouse. It felt like a villainy place instead of the peaceful helpful place it has seemed in previous episodes. I guess it really depends on the point of view you're shown.
If you're interested in watching Dollhouse, talk to me. I have access to all episodes.
I'd like to know if you'd like me to do this reviewing thing more often or not. Thank you.
